I dunno if I'm supposed to explain this at all or not (?), but I've found myself just generally looking a lot at art and architecture, and these specific things to me connected to the dynamics of the play. I have a couple more pictures coming later, I've been having scanner problems.

I'm really struck by the 2nd image...the black and white print cross-section of the head. There's something really striking about the rectangle of purple-paisley in the sea of all that black and white.
Piggy-backing on what skye said - the doubling of both the heads and hands (almost overlapped) reminds me of the personalities of the parents - codependent to the extreme. The purple seems hopeful, like not all the life has been drained out of the 2nd head yet.
